Aircon running but not cooling? The refrigerant level may be low.
SACES checks your system pressure, identifies any leak, and tops up the refrigerant to the correct level. R22, R410A, and R32. Licensed technicians. All major brands.
An aircon gas top up, also called a refrigerant top up, restores the refrigerant level in your aircon system to the manufacturer’s specified pressure.
Refrigerant is the substance that absorbs heat from your room and transfers it outside. When the level drops, the unit loses its ability to cool effectively.
Refrigerant does not deplete on its own. If your system is low, there is a leak somewhere. A proper top up always includes a pressure check and leak inspection, not just filling the gas.
Book a gas top up check if your aircon shows any of these signs:
These symptoms can also indicate other faults. Our technician checks the system pressure on-site to confirm whether low refrigerant is the cause before recommending a top up.
Older refrigerant used in aircon units installed before approximately 2010. R22 is being phased out globally and is no longer manufactured.
If your unit uses R22, top-up gas is still available but increasingly scarce and expensive. If the unit is over 10–12 years old or has a major leak, replacement is often the more cost-effective option. We advise honestly.
The most common refrigerant in Singapore residential units installed between 2010 and approximately 2022. R410A is widely available.
If your unit uses R410A and has a small leak, a top up after leak repair is a viable and cost-effective solution.
Newer, more energy-efficient refrigerant used in units installed from approximately 2020 onwards. R32 has a lower global warming potential than R410A and is becoming the standard for new installations in Singapore.
We carry R32 for all brands that have transitioned to this refrigerant.
Not sure which refrigerant your unit uses? Check your outdoor compressor unit’s nameplate, or call us and we will confirm on-site.
Technician connects a manifold gauge to the system and checks the current refrigerant pressure against the manufacturer's specification.
If pressure is low, we inspect the copper piping, joints, valves, and evaporator coil for the source of the leak. We do not top up without identifying the cause.
Minor leaks at joints or valves are repaired before the top up. If the leak is at a component (e.g., evaporator coil), we advise on the repair or replacement cost before proceeding.
Refrigerant is added to bring the system back to the correct operating pressure. We use the refrigerant type specified for your unit — R22, R410A, or R32.
System is run and cooling performance is checked before the technician leaves. Outlet temperature and pressure are verified.
Gas top up pricing depends on the refrigerant type and the amount required. We confirm the cost on-site after the pressure check, before any refrigerant is added.
If a leak repair or component replacement is needed, we quote this separately and clearly before proceeding. You decide before we do anything.
Refrigerant does not get “used up”. If your system is low, gas has escaped somewhere.
Topping up without finding and fixing the leak means the refrigerant will escape again. You will be paying for gas top ups repeatedly without resolving the actual problem.
We always performs a pressure check and leak inspection before adding refrigerant. If we find a leak, we advise on the repair cost. If the unit is old and replacement makes more sense financially, we tell you that too.

Professionals! If you ask the technicians, most have been with the company for a long time. I was first referred to Solar Aircon by two friends on separate occasions, when I mentioned that the incumbent servicing company had been unsuccessful in resolving a persistent condensation problem. The Solar team attempted to fix, failed but did not give up. The second solution worked, and management waived the first round of works! I switched over my maintenance contract. Don’t expect world-class customer service (especially if language is a speed bump), but they work hard to get the job done right. An aircon gas top up restores the refrigerant level in your aircon system to the correct operating pressure. Refrigerant is what allows your unit to cool the air. When the level drops, cooling performance drops with it.
Cost starts from $80 per gas point and depends on the refrigerant type (R22, R410A, or R32) and amount required. If a leak repair is needed, this is quoted separately before work begins. No hidden charges.
If the unit is still not cooling after a top up, the cause may not be low refrigerant. It could be a dirty coil, faulty compressor, or electrical issue. Our technician diagnoses the full system to identify the real cause.
Common signs include: the unit is running but not cooling, the room takes much longer than usual to cool, ice is forming on the pipes, or you hear a hissing sound. A pressure check confirms whether low refrigerant is the cause.
We do not recommend this. Refrigerant does not deplete naturally — if it is low, there is a leak. Topping up without repairing the leak means the gas will escape again. We always locate and fix the leak before topping up.
Yes, we carry R22. However, R22 is being phased out globally and is no longer manufactured — availability is limited and the cost is higher than R410A or R32. If your R22 unit is over 10 years old or has a significant leak, replacement may be more cost-effective. We give you an honest assessment before any work.
